Jagariya: a path towards indestructible wakefulness
What is Wakefulness?
The Pali word Jagariya or Jagaram in Sanskrit signifies an ability to stay awake. The practice of wakefulness was advised by the Buddha to develop for the monks to support mindfulness (sati) and concentration (samadhi). However, the energetic foundations of this practice are not explicitly elucidated within the suttas.
To help bridge this gap of understanding between developing the mind and training the body, we have brought together a set of practices to condition, open and prepare the body, generate energy, and govern the mind’s attention, such that the quality of wakefulness could be integrated in our lives and support our practice.
Exploring Wakefulness
The Future of Rest: A More-Than-Human Manifesto
Rest is a vital aspect of wakefulness. Technology has impacted our ability to rest through its colonisation of our attention, sleep, and recovery. Human-computer interaction researchers and designers have expressed the desire to contribute to human flourishing. However, design to support restful states remains largely tethered to human-centric paradigms. This paper identifies an oversight in human-computer interaction research and recognises rest as a more-than-human phenomenon that emerges through a dynamic interplay of multiple species, technologies, and ecosystems.

The Energetics of Rest
A look at the factors inhibiting one’s capacity to rest and at a way of practice that may enable one to not only access the correct tools for resting but also lead to abandoning all stress.
